Forest Service Process for Forest  Management Plans

Horsemen probably should be made aware that approval of the new planning rule that establishes the process for Forest Plan revisions is imminent.  Many ongoing planning efforts were put on hold a year or so ago when a suit was filed against the 2005 planning rule.  Although the 'public processes' were interrupted by the law suit, a lot of planning activities have taken place 'in house.'  Once the new rule is approved we can expect a flurry of activity as the agency brings this information to the public and tries to catch up for lost time. 

If your local Forest was working on a plan revision be on the lookout for news releases in local papers and start getting geared up to get involved.  If we fail to get involved, we forfeit the opportunity to influence our future opportunities.  Please read the news release.
